I love the album 'Solid Air.' I think that the combination of Martyn's voice and guitar can be barrier breaking, taking in Rythym and Blues, Jazz, and Folk but this live concert shows us why the 80's were such a bad decade for the greats (Bowie, Stones, Clapton etc etc.) Way too much soft porn saxophone, way to little edge and way too much soft lighting.

Great DVD if you like 80's cheeze and fallen geniuses but a real shame after the first 3 older tracks.

Yes it is his 80's incarnation, but John Martyn always excelled for me whatever style was current at the time. This concert from the Apprentice tour oozes with an easy laid back and classy style and has the added bonus of a guest appearance from David Gilmour. Great version of John Wayne. The show is a balance to the edgier gritty stuff of other JM DVD's available. Enjoy!
