One of the seemingly endless series of Mickey Rourke flops, director Walter Hill's downbeat glob of calculated nastiness shoehorns numerous genres together with scant success. Turning from latex monster to plastic surgeon's miracle, Rourke invests nil expression or thought into his role as a disfigured criminal who's given a new face in a prison hospital. Saved from total failure by a few energetically staged action sequences, this rancid movie, that's part melodrama, part heist whodunnit, also features a sleazy turn from Ellen Barkin, who unusually beats every bad guy in the grim violence stakes.

Lost in Time!
Now this film may have one of the worst special effects make up Job for 'Johnny Handsome' in Movie history BUT if you want a top class bring you back to the 80's , Micky Rourke in his prime, tough, gritty, gum chewing hotheaded doublecrossing action with heart, then this is for you! And as an added bonus for you there are quite a few top named actors in this little known gem!.... heard of Morgan Freeman anyone?
This film will have you glued from beginning to end and shows Micky Rourke as you remembered him in films like 'Angel Heart' & '9 1/2 weeks'. What have you got to loose,go on try this! -

Handsomely tragic
Johnny Handsome is a film that can be apprecitated by action film buffs or people after a good tear jerker or Mickey Rourke fans. This is not only a sad story but it is also a swansong to the ever great Mickey Rourke (although he is now making a comeback thanks to The Rainmaker and Once Upon A Time in Mexico) shame Rourke wasn't born ten years late because he could've put Leo DiCaprio, and even Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe to shame, with his masculine good looks and great voice. Like I said this is a film for Mickey Rourke fans but also for film buffs(such as myself) who are interested in the legendary Carolco studio, and how they prospered in the 1980's and early 1990's only to face bankrupcy a few years down the line.
