Wonderful!
I have seen the stage show with Philip Schofield and thought the DVD wouldn't compare - but it was wonderful, very well filmed. Just the flick for a rainy Thursday afternoon in Glasgow. I thought my children would be too young for it (4 & 2) but they loved it too - we watched it twice in a row yesterday.

Carried very well from stage to small screen
I saw the stage show on which this DVD is based some years ago (when Philip Schofield was playing the lead) and this DVD is a fairly faithful reproduction of that production. It doesn't fall into the trap that many other musicals-turned-films have fallen into, namely trying to make it big-budget and losing the flavour of the original script.
It isn't simply a recording of a show (a format which also has its difficulties), rather it neatly cuts out it's own format. The premise is that it's a school production of Joseph played by the teachers (who include Donny Osmond and Joan Collins amongst other familiar faces). This is neatly done since Joseph was originally written for production by schools. The sets are well done and not overblown and the performances and singing are great.
Overall a very well executed rendition of a perennial stage favourite. -
