[Highly rated reviewer]A film with a decent concept, but which fails to deliver its potential. It is difficult to pinpoint exactly what doesn't quite work in the film, as it isn't a bad film - just slightly above average. Some failings in the casting department don't help the film much, with Jamie Bell being terribly miscast (he isn't eccentric enough for the unstable character he is trying to play), and Rachael Bilson as Mille is just seriously lacking in any ability to act. The story, forgive the pun, jumps around too much and there is a feeling that quite a chunk of the film is missing as it simply doesn't feel like a complete movie. Perhaps the intention is for this to be the start of a franchise, but if so they have done a bad job of making me excited for the future. The action is reasonable well handled, but the dialogue scenes seem flat and forced, filled with plot exposition to ham-fistedly move the tale along. This is all the more confusing when you consider that Doug Liman (the director) was responsible for great dialogue infused films such as Swingers and Go, and also delivered the best (in my opinion) of the Bourne films. Hayden Christensen at least shows some ability that never surfaced in the terrible Star Wars prequels, but is not exciting enough a lead to keep us interested. The overall feel is a muddled film that doesn't quite know what it wants to be, and leaves you a bit unphased and underwhelmed by anything that goes on in the film. Not a bad film, but a far cry from what it should have been.

Great film, I highly recommend you watch!By SindiDoll (4 reviews) , 25 Oct 2011I love this film, but I don't understand why the DVD has a 15 rating. LOVE FILM has a little more sense and given it a 12 rating, I happily watched this with my 9 year old, and he enjoyed it just as much.
something missing, still goodBy tominsptwo (73 reviews) from Wakefield , 23 Sep 2011think i agree with the other reviews here, a really good idea. could have been a hell of a lot better, not a bad film not at all and Sam L Jackson is good in this but the whole thing seems to lack the bit of something! still a film to go rent!
An enjoyable puddle of a movieBy HazelFairy (28 reviews) from Bedford , 20 Sep 2011I really enjoyed this movie, I think you'll like it if you enjoy programmes like 'Doctor Who,' or perhaps 'Quantum Leap' perhaps even if you enjoy the dichotomy presented in the more recent movies of Batman (starring Christian Bale) which links particularly with the role of the paladin characters. It's an interesting concept, being able to think yourself into another place.
I think for me, the show is stolen by the supporting actors Jamie Bell and Samuel L. Jackson. The lead played by Hadyn Christiansen appears rather wooden, although perhaps the character is written that way as he appears to zoom around without much self-awareness or reflection.
Jamie Bell presents a far more interesting character, I think (if there was ever to be a 2nd movie) I would like to see his character explored a bit further. Also, the whole concept of 'jumpers' is left rather brute fact, they 'are' without any cinematic discussion as to how they came to be.
Certainly very watchable and fun, but not great depth.
It took talent to make a movie about a teleporting superhero suck.....By Bewchacca (7 reviews) from NE Scotland , 13 Sep 2011... yet they still managed it.
This is probably the most disappointing film I have ever watched. It has a starting conceit that most action movies would have killed for, and it still screws it up.

Extremely sillyBy StueyMiller (6 reviews) , 08 Sep 2011Had it's moments, but as for the rest, I know I will not be able to get that time back. I certainly wouldn't recomment this to anyone. Extremely silly.
