You can't sit on the fence with this film: you either love it or hate it

If you read Dave Calhoun's review, make sure you balance it out with some of the TimeOut reader's comments. Here's one:

Loved the film, Storyline, dialogue. A truly talented British cast. Film making that should be celebrated particularly in the UK rather then a film critic feeling the need to destroy. Tom is perfect for the part and this is his most significant role to date.
Riveting performances hold our attention throughout this dark drama. Marsan and newcomer Candese Reed incredible.- Was this review helpful to you?

(22)Heart Of Junk
By buffyrules (335 reviews) from southend on sea , 13 Mar 2013Underrated film that unfortunately falls away badly in the final third. Despite this, Marsden's excellent performance kept me enthralled throughout. A good claustrophobic feel but too much here not properly thought out.- Was this review helpful to you?

The streets of Lowdown
By mptye (46 reviews) from huddersfield , 05 Dec 2012Charts a life hijacked many times over. With the hijacked and hijacking hijinking at first, getting hi in the middle then hibernating at the end. Great performances but kinda wimpers away at the end. Ban hoodies.- Was this review helpful to you?

Good acting, hit and miss story line
By calnfa (43 reviews) from cheltenham , 26 Nov 2012A typically dark and gritty British film with great acting.
However, the story at some points seemed to forget it had an audience, and it's almost as if those working on it knew it so well it got a bit lost along the way. For example, it is only hinted at that the couple that moved in to Franks had devised this specifically, and by watching the extras I was told that the long lost daughter was supposed to be a coke addict. But she is only seen taking one pill, and her haphazard life is only briefly hinted at. The street girl at one point has a raging crack habit, but a few days later is perfectly well again. The inclusion of the sick mother is a pointless scene.
Other than that, it is good viewing, but the story line could have been better thought out.- Was this review helpful to you?

Marvelous Marsden
By open (232 reviews) , 23 Sep 2012Marsden is so good in this as he is many other films. Garia plot was somewhat odd but Lynettes and Franks was touching. A good uk film.- Was this review helpful to you?
