  • None thinking genuinly funny rom-com

    [Highly rated reviewer]

After heading out to the cinema and then not knowing what to see as it was the last screening this was about it. Wasn't expecting a lot from this romcom but I did find it genuinely funny, laughing out loud several times throughout the film, it has some truely funny scenes. The plot, well it is not great, Fat-Kid becomes fit, goes home after 10 years and bumps into his best friend who he had a crush on and tries to win her heart, nothing new here but never the less for a movie you don't have to think to watch and that provides many laughs you can't go far wrong with this.

    Such a sweet movie.

Could be funnier, but has plenty of awww moments.

I'd class it as an easy watch, something you can put on whilst doing the ironing.

What a dissappointment. The concept could have been good but the characters had no substance and behaved totally erratic. You couldnt relate to them nor could you tell who was likeable and who was not as they were so different from scene to scene.

There are a couple of comedic moments but not enough to justify the running time and the ending although predictable felt rushed, leaving you asking why on earth these people would have made those decisions??

In short a terrible film with a serious lack of storyline

Really, really poor is the only way I describe this; honestly the best bits are in the trailer; the film pretty much drags out the whole point of the 'just friends' concept and trying to make it into a romantic relationship.

Best bit; probably for comedy reasons is when Reynolds slides down the snow worst bit; all of the pyhco behaviour his character displays.

Smart is okay( although very boring) but I think the writers could have been more creative with the film e.g: when he came back she was fat and not hot because if you think about it that would be ironic and not only that but it would have questioned whether or not he thought of her just as a friend because of weight etc. Or it would have been good if he ended up with the crazy singer because the character is a bit wacky anyway.

But seriously it felt like someone was in their office one day and pitched a situation they had been through and their boss was like 'awesome, that would be a really mundane thing to make people sit through' and I'm as big rom-com addict too and loved Reynolds in 'The preposal' so I know its the writing

So all in all an epic fail

Having seen Ryan Reynolds in Proposal and Green Lantern I was interested to see what else he'd been in. This film was just awful nonsense, I didn't enjoy it one bit, and wouldn't recommend it!
