Julie Walters is good value, as always, but this comedy drama about transvestism is pretty worthless otherwise. Who is it aimed at? Closet cross-dressers? The prurient? Ed Wood fanatics? Hard to tell, as it lurches from frilly farce to black-lace banality with sickly sentiment piled as high as the heels, come the “Nobody's perfect” finale. Adrian Pasdar looks as uncomfortable playing Gerald/Geraldine as you will be watching this curious frock opera that's as emotionally fake as his falsies. Tootsie it ain't. Nor even Glen or Glenda for that matter.

  • "...One of the quirkiest films on screen. It is a sweet little comedy about the sunny side of transvestism....Pasdar makes Gerald immensely likable and Geraldine vulnerable..."

    More than a woman!

Another winnwe for Julie Walters-an easy to watch british comedy at its best. Pasdar and Walters gel so well and bring light and emotion to a tentative subject. If you like to sit with a bottle of wine and a box of chocs relaxing on your sofa, then this is the one to watch.

Julie walters is comedy at its best and shows her versatality in the role-both moving and hilarious i can recommend it to any walters fan. You wont be disappointed!

    Watchable

I saw this movie after watching a documentary by Grayson Perry on transvestitism and interestingly one of his comments was that you can always spot transvestites in 'civvies' by their manicured eyebrows, so the earlier comment is perhaps less relevant. Sadly, however, the plot and some of the other characters are a bit thin but nevertheless this is a fairly well observed look at an aspect of life that is normally laughed off.
