OK, I admit it. I mainly rented this DVD because it had Sherilyn Fenn in it - she of Twin Peaks fame - but the plot also showed some promise, if you like comedies of misunderstanding. Unfortunately, while it is a pleasant film, with a good performance from the male lead (the guy who played the head writer on the brillian Larry Sanders Show), the material is lightweight and the direction pedestrian. The special feature on the DVD revealed that the producers of this film were a bunch of dentists from New Jersey, or somewhere, which probably explains a lot. They wanted to make a film which has no sex or violence, and they succeeded, but it does make for a lightweight film.
Footnote for Simpsons fans: it also features Yeardley Smith, the voice of Lisa Simpson.
This is one of the worst films I have seen lately. Very light weight material and poor acting. Do yourself a favour and rent something else.
