A story of two women, Madhavi (Meena Kumari), self-effacing, spiritual and totally steeped in her culture. Bhanu (Padmini), sensuous, independent, possessive and passionate. They both love Kumar Rajesh (Dharmendra). Kumar reciprocates Madhavi's feeling for him, but in a platonic way. When Kumar marries Bhanu, she cannot bear to see Kumar's affection for Madhavi, and taunts and torments her to the point of attempting suicide. Madhavi is saved by Moti Babu (Raj Kumar), a scoundrel, who uses Madhavi as a pawn to blackmail Kumar and his mother.

Good old fashioned family entertainment
Good film with excellent acting from Meena Kumari and Dharmendra. Very old school, they just don't make them like this anymore, SHAME!!
