Not memorable
By Hibiscus from Surrey , 13 Mar 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
This film laboured on ..and on. I was not bowled over by the music however some of the landscape scenes were beautiful. The story line seemed silly and in the end, not worth the wait and the thunder used to punctuate any strong words became laughable.
I did not particulary warm to the characters and for many reasons, the actress Kajol, annoys me in any film with her over the top, contorted expressions; over emphasised, jarring movements and shouting. Thank goodness Shah Rukh Khan can hold up any film and Amitabh Bachchan has great on screen presence. It is watchable but not memorable.- Was this review helpful to you?

(45)Enjoy "We shall never part not through smiles nor tears"
By Meccanoman (2 reviews) , 02 Dec 2012(One of my Indian colleagues at work told me the title meant this and that I would enjoy it: I really did.) A comfortably recognisable plotline - so no real thrills or spills in the direction it takes. The story is one of strong family values. The cast are beautiful people and the settings and bollywood dance routines lush to behold - they are an essential part of the bollywood formula! Cynics of such entertainment should keep well away, but if you like Indian music and culture, and love your family and mum and dad, certainly give this long emotional ride a whirl and get into the story! I loved it.- Was this review helpful to you?

3 hours 30 min of garbage.
By a customer , 14 Jun 2012I'm not Indian but sometimes I like movies originated there. this is one of the worst I ever seen. The plot if there is one is quite simple. A man who was adopted when he was about 8 years old, then when he gets older falls in love with an ordinary girl. The father who is a rich man opposes this relasionship and throws him from the house and their lives. They go to live to london. Later the younger brother comes back to the house and when he is told what happened he goes looking for his brother and goes to live in his brother's house without him realising that was his brother 9you can see how stupid is the drama). That is whe whole plot and it last 3 and a half hours. It's amazing how the could made a film like that. It's filled with songs that comes from nowhere and go nowhere. I play the dvd at double speed and jump some parts.....Don't waste your time unless you are indian and are used to yhis kind of melodramas.- Was this review helpful to you?

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
By a customer , 15 Dec 2011Enjoyed this. A good all round film. It had a message, was well acted with lovely sets. However I found it was a little disjointed at times.- Was this review helpful to you?

My favorite, the first Bollywood film I ever watched
By ladypiru (3 reviews) from Peterborough , 10 Feb 2011I love this film, the storyline, the music, the dancing. I had never seen a Bollywood film til I came across this in the Library when living in Illinois. Its the only one I own though I have seen many since then. I always come back to this one. I laugh, cry, n sing along in my own self styled garbled version of broken hindi. One of these days I'll be able to sing it all in perfect Hindi, lol!!!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Goes on and on and on and on
By a customer from Watford , 14 Sep 2010This film was over 3 hours long if I had realised would never had rented it out but I was advised it was a brilliant film. It was ok with the usual hum ding of stuff going on, boy meets girl, falls in love BUT head of family objects no connections, no money etc. We are living in the 21st century and it is a shame these films go back to the age of story line. Would not reccommend- Was this review helpful to you?
