Producer Jerry Bruckheimer focuses on family audiences with this boisterous and likeable action feature. While too lightweight for most adults, its slapdash mixture of cheeky humour, speedily shot chase sequences and dim-witted monkey business should hold the attention of youngsters. Surprisingly, Liz Hurley's erstwhile boyfriend Steve Bing co-wrote the story and screenplay, in which calamity-prone friends Jerry O'Connell and Anthony Anderson are dispatched to Australia by O'Connell's mobster stepfather (Christopher Walken) to deliver $50,000 to a shady associate. When a wild kangaroo runs off with the cash, the pals set off across the outback in pursuit, assisted by wildlife conservationist Estella Warren. Though Warren adds little more than tight T-shirt titillation and Walken's so stereotyped he's almost boring to watch, it's O'Connell and Anderson's spirited banter that carries the film. As for the eponymous marsupial, this semi-CGI creation pops up so infrequently you almost feel cheated.
Simple-minded farce about stupid people that is a familiar mixture of crass and tasteless jokes and broad slapstick; it has all the subtlety and humour of a punch on the nose.
In this caper comedy, the titular 'roo takes off across the outback with $100,000 of Mob money. He steals the movie too... read more on Time Out
I found this to be a funny, very watchable film but I was disappointed that there was not more of Jack the kangaroo in it. It mainly focused on the two lads. The animation of Jack was superb and I wish I could have watched more of him.
This is a good family film but not as funny as i thought it would be. The funniest parts are those advertised in previous trailers.
Quite funny had a good laugh has some corny bits though.
Sort of enjoyed this, thought there should of been more of the kangaroo though, but it was an ok film to watch & funny in places!
If you have kids that need entertaining for 90 minutes, but don't want to be sat there bored, GET THIS!!!
There is a story in this for everyone. A comical Kangaroo for the kids, mobsters for the guys, and a love interest for the sheila's. This is a watch once film for the adults but very entertaining. After all, what do you expect from a Kangaroo that wears a baseball jacket...
This is probably not a good choice for the Jerry Bruckheimer fans out there as this is new territory for him, but it is shot in his usual unique style.

This movie passed away the time and gave a few chuckles along the way. The kids enjoyed it and I must admit that I did too. The acting was good and so was the storyline.
Jerry O' Conners part was well played even though Im so used to seeing him in 'Sliders' that I kept expecting a portal to appear any moment. Anthony Anderson playing his hip cool sidekick was in my opinion the star of the film. His antics made me and the kids laugh.
Altogether an easy watching movie for a lazy afternoon.
I know this is aimed at kids (mainly!) but I thought it looked quite funny when I saw a trailer for it in the cinema.
It was funny(ish) and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. But for me, the kangaroo was the best thing in it (and very well done too) and wasn't in the film enough.
Other than that the movie is good fun and entertaining enough.
Hasn't the main actor (whose name has escaped me) turned out a lot different than we thought he would when he was the little fat boy in Stand By Me?

This film makes a great family film, with its mixture of adventure and comedy and a very likeable Kangaroo. The special effects for kangaroo Jack were prefect really bringing the film to life. Both children and adults will find it enjoyable to watch. The only reason this film didn't get 5 stars was that its geography of Australia was terrible, if you only knew australia from the film you would end up thinking Alice Springs is a days drive south of Sydney. This is equivelant to saying London is 20 miles north of Leeds in the UK. But that minor gripe aside this is an excellent fun family adventure film!
My 10 and 8 year Olds loved this, though I saw little to entertain. A silly movie. There are a lot better out there! Watchable, but as one reviewer has already said, we could have benefited from more animatronics from the Kangeroo
This film was really funny except that this film was supposed to be about Jack but it barely was. But I think everyone else would like it like I did.

"...There really is a nice core to the movie, and O'Connell and Anderson are equally adept at getting laughs..."
