Kannathil Muthamittal
Thiruchelvan (R Madhavan), an engineer by profession, has a flair for writing. While in Rameswaram, Thiruchelvan had written a short story on a child abandoned at the Red Cross. With the consent of his wife-to-be, Indira (Simran), the couple adopts the babygirl and christens her as Amudha (P S Keerthana). They decide to tell her the truth once she is nine years old. On her ninth birthday, Thiruchelvan tells Amudha that they are not her real parents. Amudha sets out to trace her biological mother. Thiruchelvan and Indira assist her in her mission. Their search takes them through the dense jungles and terrains, planted with landmines, of Sri Lanka. The only clue that they have is that her mother's name is M D Shyama. Their search ends when they stumble upon a hardcore militant woman, Shyama (Nandita Das) who refuses to speak to them. Does Amudha win her 'real' mother back? The film has been dubbed into Telugu as Amrutha.
