Khushi Details

Having already scored a Tamil hit with this tale of star-crossed lovers who take as much pleasure in squabbling as canoodling, director SJ Surya has now made a Hindi version. The opening segment, in which the twosome are brought together in several chance situations from babyhood to adolescence, is rather neatly done. However, once the spirited Kareena Kapoor and rich boy Fardeen Khan become an item at college, their spats grow increasingly vexatious, not to mention tediously verbose. Tere Bina stands out among the musical numbers by Sameer and Anu Malik, but the action inevitably returns to the bickering beloveds. Though Khushi may originally have been a big enough hit to justify a remake, this retread fails to justify itself — there's just too much chat and not enough wit.
