Another QT film. Slick as ever. Chick who likes to kill people gets revenge on the people who tried to kill her. Eh, that's about it.

Lots of nice sound, stunningly shot, some great fight scenes and next to no plot. I suppose it is an attempt to echo a genre which, frankly, most people wouldn't watch. Think Pulp Fiction without the brilliant story.

Entertaining, yes, but it seems that Quentin is losing his way a bit. Peronally I think he should dump Uma who ain't all that and a bag of potato chips.

The credits are rolling and I'm still waiting for something to happen. This is really not worth all the hype.

One of Tarantinos best films. If you have never seen one before you might be left thinking wtf but very funny & well written!

  • Grab a sword and get some vengence

Great film, much more story based than the first and a better film because of that. I would happily sit back with a couple of beers and watch them back to back. Now......where did i put that sword?

  • Vicious, morbid glamour. If that's your thing

The two films form the blood drenched epic story of a hitwoman's revenge against former colleagues and ex lover / boss Bill who tried to murder her at her wedding. The vaguely named heroine wades through blood, earth and tears to dispatch killers even more loathesome than she. We glimpse flashbacks of her martial arts training with a particularly tough sifu [master]. The second film finally runs out of decapitations and ends with a nod to redemption... just about.

Only superb visuals and exquisitely choreographed fight action make the films worth seeing. And frankly I can go off jets of blood very quickly. It's all very well including funky anime sequences but in today's world, the fantasy sits uneasily alongside what I know to be happening, horribly for real, in too many countries...

I can see the two films make up a classic, cult thing. Attention to twisty, tricksy detail builds morbid fascination. The claustrophobic scene required me to control my own breathing, to avoid a panic attack. Actors do as directed, to artificial epic proportions. Only Carradine seems underpowered, but he does make me detest him with his b-s male superiority. I'd quite like to have done in the character myself...

So why can't I be more.. impressed? After all, these films were BIG hits. Well, I get tired of films, tv and books where everyone is out to make mincemeat of everybody else. Also I can't suspend my disbelief enough to like a murderess, even if she has been overwhelmed by the emotions of motherhood. And I can't help thinking that this glamorising - and normalising - of vicious behaviour is dangerous. There are a lot of unbalanced people around. These films can only help them believe it's fun to be a murdering psychopath.

One of Tarantino's best in my opinion. Exceptionally intricate plot and far more realism than Vol 1. Cannot recommend highly enough.
