A nunsploitation extravaganza starring Anita Ekberg (LA DOLCE VITA) and Warhol favourite Joe Dallesandro; Ekberg plays Sister Gertrude, a man-hating nun whose recent surgery to remove a brain tumour has left her suffering from headaches, paranoia, and a morphine addiction. Unfortunately no one will take her complaints seriously, that is until patients start turning up dead at times corresponding exactly with Gertrude's morphine blackouts. Sister Gertrude is forced to curtail her burgeoning exploration of her sexual freedom and is committed to the psychiatric ward, and everyone, Gertrude included, believes the mystery solved; why then do the murders continue? The hospital turns into an orgy of sex, violence, lesbianism, and necrophilia in this classic of Italian horror cinema.

A dated blend of softcore sleaze, routine blood-letting and explicable coyness, this stars an over-the-hill Ekberg as a... read more on Time Out
Firstly I have to say that one of the reviews on here seems to be so concerned with the Shameless label and the `great things' they've done with the release of this film that you have to wonder if it comes from independent source!
Ignoring that, Killer Nun is a below average slasher film. It wasn't awful, but certainly not one of the best. There are occasional funny moments and there are one or two decent gore scenes. Ultimately though it was let down by its slow pace, predictability and lack of gore, considering the genre.
The uncut scenes that appear in this version added nothing to story. They weren't gore scenes either, like you might have expected, they were just random `talking' scenes that in a better film would be called `character development.'
There is a short interview with Anita Ekberg but it's none to interesting. Not sure why it was banned. If anything it was probably because the hospital is run by nuns and one of them is a lesbian killer (that is, a killer lesbian, not killer of lesbians).
Anita Ekberg - who we all remember from 'La Dolce Vita' - said, in her interview, that following that film, she feared being typecast, so accepted the role of Sister Georgina in this lame 'nunsploitation' flick apparently 'rescued' by Shameless and presented in its full version. Just why this film was banned for so long beats me as there's nothing remotely gory in it - well, maybe the 'acupuncture' scene at a push - and the female nudity is certainly blink-and-miss. I think I understood the story by the time the film ended with its 'twist', but by then I couldn't care less. I agreed with Ms Ekberg on one thing though - the dubbing is diabolical!!
