(53)They Ruined It!
By sammyboy (10 reviews) from London , 03 Dec 2012I got this movie as I had just finished reading the book which was excellent. This movie altered the most fundamental element of the plot making the whole film pointless. This is a truly abysmal adaptation with dreadful acting, poor script, awful character development and a confusing plot. Nicci French must be angry at how ths film destroyed their story!- Was this review helpful to you?

A mess
By a customer , 25 Oct 2012I've read some other Nicci French novel but not the one this is based on. They are generally well put together plot wise - so I can only assume the script writers are responsible for the mess here.
Too list all it's failing would only add to the time I have wasted on it, suffice to say that after the initial set up, where our protagonists meet and fall in love/lust there is a absence of any coherent story or plot or character development. It is as if the writers had once seen a thriller and vaguely remembered how one works. The farcical ending couldn't come soon enough for me.
On the plus side it looks good, and makes good use of London settings. Heather Graham is quite watchable (with and without clothes!) and generally makes the best of what the awful script throws at her. Joseph Fiennes though is horrendously hammy, the rest of the cast forgettable.
Avoid.- Was this review helpful to you?

Boring me softly
By Bobsview (549 reviews) from Gloucestershire , 25 Mar 2012Highly implausible soft porn erotic thriller turkey. Joseph Fiennes at his most enigmatic monosyllabic and unfathomable supposedly male hunk. The plot is completely absurd, and the icing on the cake is when they supposedly go mountaineering on their wedding day as their reception! The twist at the end is laughable. Impossible to take this film seriously. Don't try the bondage at home!- Was this review helpful to you?

Game for a laugh?
By Bexgolightly (2 reviews) , 17 Jan 2012Pretty awful, and arguably soft porn more or less, and let's face it we could have done with a lot less of Ms Graham's jiggly bosoms (heave). Totally unconvincing- Was this review helpful to you?
