    Impressive...

Seminal portrait of an 'underworld' baron. Walken is chilling, and one can see how comfortable Ferrara's direction is with issues about loyalty, respect...Some would find the ending rather bland, Godfather-like, but I frankly think it's terrific...

Enjoy after a really bad day at work, thinking about all you could do to that manager that is doing your head in...

    Awful

Without a doubt one of the worse films I have ever came across. With such good actors I expected a lot more.

Great potential, but doesn't live up to it

Christopher Walken puts in a truly spine-chilling performance as the evil, utterly soulless Frank White, a drug lord just released from jail and itching to get back into action. When the film stays on him and his rise to power, it's great. Unfortunately, the film increasingly gets stupid and unlikely, and nothing much seems to happen in the end. It's a shame, because had the character been treated with a more operatic eye, a la Scarface, this could have been a great gangster film. As it is, it's merely okay, but blessed with a great central turn.

    Sadly dated

I tried to like it honest. With such a great cast I don't know why it failed perhaps poor script, plot and direction

    taking the hiss

on paper this looks a little belter of a movie, with albeit a somewhat youthful star studded cast and a sort of kagagoogoo video sort of feel to it, but whoever did the sound on this film needs shooting. It is almost impossible to hear what is going on for background noise and as most of it is shot in either discos or diners you can get the idea. there is one or two good bits but overall i felt annoyed.
