Could have done with a better memorial.

ANyone who hasn't heard any Kirsty Maccoll songs is missing a great deal out of their life. Her bittersweet lyrics are inspirational, and before you know it you are tapping your toes to 'Walking Down Madison', before you realise the song is about homelessness. Her untimely, and very suspicious, death in a diving accident robbed the world of a genius, and I can honestly say it is the only time a famous persons demise has really cut me up.

This DVD is purely the promo videos. Most people have seen 'Fairytale of New York', and this is one of the best (which isn't saying much). Most of the videos are typical 1980's fare. People pratting around. Singer walking down the street. Lame story with a famous cameo (Ade Edmondson in 'Terry'). A couple of highlights are 'In These Shoes', where actors mime to the song quite effectively, and best of the crop 'Freeworld'. Theres some good editing in there. The extras consist of Kirsty telling an unseen character what a lot of fun making the videos was. Thats it.

All in all, a bit disappointing.

If you really want to find out about one of the nations treasures, check out Freeworld.com.

    An entertaining overview

Fans of Kirsty will be delighted by this collection of her promo videos. As well as highlighting her own songwriting talents, the cover versions are equally as strong. The videos are creative and amusing enough without overshadowing the songs themselves.
