Most entertaining movie I've seen all year!!

This is a welcome return to form for screenwriter turned director Shane Black! This in my opinion is his best script yet, the witty and and non-stop banter between Val Kilmer and Robert Downey Jr almost had me rolling in the aisle on several occasions. Can't think of a more enjoyable movie I've seen this year, both Downey Jr's(I kept thinking how this superb actor has wasted a career with so much potential) and Kilmer's comic timing are of the highest calibre, Highly Recommended!!!- Was this review helpful to you?

Hero comforted by dog that ate his finger
By MidnightsTail (36 reviews) from Oxford, England , 22 May 2013Sharp dialogue, fast dry wit, taboos prodded, corkscrew plot - AND Robert Downey Jr. Why didn't I know about this film?! It's Raymond Chandler for the 21st century, in fact probably if I go look through RC's work/films I'll find almost the same plot and I'm pretty sure Veronica Dexter is a Chandler name... Compelling viewing, cool visuals but avoids relying on special effects. Surreal, comedic, gruesome ... and probably ripped from real life, therefore! This is the kind of film where the hero gets a comforting hug from the dog that eats his severed finger. Enjoy! :)- Was this review helpful to you?

By Isitsafe (1 review) , 19 May 2013Watch this film! Restored my faith in cinema- RD Jr and Val Kilmer are both sublime. Glorious directing, screen-writing, producing, editing and acting- some real talent here. I laughed all the way through and enjoyed every minute. If you think a comedy or drama or cop movie should only look 'a certain way', you might be disappointed or confused- go back to the Hollywood ' formula'- this isn't for you. However, if you accept that funny is well, just funny, and you accept the freedom of cinema as a story-telling medium, enjoy : )- Was this review helpful to you?
