Kiss Me, Stupid review

An amazingly off-colour flick. For once (and I do mean, 'once') I find myself in agreement with the critic's review. Not only is this film 'tasteless', I'm amazed the writers didn't get done for libel, having more or less suggested that *rat pack* members were rapists!
So okay, it was made in the swinging sixties, and maybe I've become hidebound in my middle age, but I was taken aback by the easy acceptance of the pretty lax morals suggested here.
Kim Novak was not the only actor whose demeanour was definitely subdued. In her case, this was not wholly unexpected, considering the part she had to play - but apart from Dean Martin himself and an almost demonic Ray Walston, everyone else certainly presented like they were quietly searching for a graceful exit, stage left.
For the sake of the little treat of hearing what the talent of Dean Martin could do for even the dreariest song you've ever heard, I grant this film an extra star, allowing it become just 'OK'.
