    In a word: No.

I had high expectations for this film and although in the end I did quite like it, the other reviews here set it up for a fall.

The Action is artificially sped up, sometimes to the point of becoming distracting, the characters were pretty uninspired and the dialogue was entirely functional, humorless and shallow.

What about 'Hero', 'Romeo Must Die' and the slightly similar 'Unleashed'?

Good, but for me not the best.

I really liked this film for entertainment, lots of action and brilliant shots of Paris landmarks. I loved Jet Li as a character, quite perfect in every aspect of his work, someone you would want to aspire to and definately want to help you out of a situation. It was quite a nice touch when jessica stumbled across him and they joined forces to sort out thier different situations. Still wasn't sure about the whole story plot as Jet Li was brought in to help the French police, but but was set up by them to take the rap for another murder. I couldn't see the connection. perhaps I missed something here, but definately one to watch!

Thought I'd venture out from the type of films I usually watch but this was definitely not my sort of movie.

  • Good Jet Li film, but not the best

    Rated - 4.0 stars
    By a customer from Farnborough , 02 May 2011
Unlike some of the other reviews of this film, this is not Jet Li's best film, but very good none-the-less.

As you would expect, the fight scenes are excellent - if sped up rather too much at times making it look almost comical - but the plot was completely daft.

I liked the touch of the little pins being used in the fight, but the ending with the 'Kiss of the Dragon' was a bit daft.

Would definitely recommend, however, for fight fans.

Thoroughly enjoyed this film, action from start to finish and a good story to back it up. Whilst Jet isn't (obviously) the best actor, he makes up for that in style, skill and intensity!

  • Not your normal marital-arts fare

    Rated - 4.0 stars

The film isn't the normal wire-heavy, CGI-Laden, and over-the-top marital-arts movie starring Jet Li. Jet Li is actually pretty entertaining here. The movie is violent and disturbing, even having lots of strong language. It ain't 18 for no reason. It has some well done marital-arts and stunts, which is done by Cory Yuen, and a great performance from Jet Li, who doesn't play a super-cop looking for revenge, he plays a cop, who doesn't want to be a hero, but he's so devoted to his job that he has no-one, which also makes him vulnerable to human emotions. The villain, played by Tcheky Karyo, is very sinister and cruel and violent that you hope that he dies a very painful death. Bridget Fonda is also in the film as a prostitute, who asks Jet Li for help in trying to get her daughter, so she can get out of prostitution and leave Paris, which is where the movie is set. Highly recommended
