Leon meets Romeo Must Die in this furiously kinetic action thriller that combines the amazing fighting talents of Asian superstar Jet Li with the canny genre production and scripting know-how of French auteur Luc Besson. Outrageously violent, hard-edged and constantly exciting, the film has Li as a Chinese intelligence officer sent to Paris on an undercover assignment, who becomes embroiled in a drug cartel conspiracy. Helped by hooker Bridget Fonda and hindered by super-nasty corrupt cop Tcheky Karyo, Li must use his amazing skills to see justice done. Director Chris Nahon's super-charged thrill-ride does nothing more than highlight a breathtaking array of dazzling martial arts sequences — but it's more than enough. All choreographed by Li's long-time collaborator Cory Yuen, the visceral kung fu and kickboxing on show here are the finest seen on screen since the classic glory days of Bruce Lee.

Jet Li's Greatest?

In a word: No.

I had high expectations for this film and although in the end I did quite like it, the other reviews here set it up for a fall.

The Action is artificially sped up, sometimes to the point of becoming distracting, the characters were pretty uninspired and the dialogue was entirely functional, humorless and shallow.

What about 'Hero', 'Romeo Must Die' and the slightly similar 'Unleashed'?

Good, but for me not the best.

Martial Arts at its best

This as got to be his best yet, it will take some beating rent this one, only one problem you have to send it back so go out and buy it then ok there is only one jet li

HIGHLY RECOMENDED. HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF JET LI'S BEST FILMS EVER. FULL OF NON STOP ACTION FROM START TO FINISH.

Jet Li and Brdget Fonda - Almost Perfect!!

Excellent film for action packed fighting. Some really good scenes. Definately a film to see if your genre is action. Maybe even one to buy .....

damn this was a good movie, Jet Li was great in it. Good story and fight scenes were kick ass. Rent away.

Fantastic loved this one again Jet Li uses his hands to set the baddies to rites, when he is framed for murders he does not commit. All action well reccomended.

Jet Li on form...

Although the storyline is formulaic and typical of the action genre, the plot moves with good pace and Jet Li is supercool in his destruction of the bad guys. Definitely one to watch if you are in the mood for an action film which is not too demanding on your thought processes!

The best jet film

the fight scenes are wonderfull with a wide mix of fighting styles makes for a nice change and good choice of music to go with them, recomended (and anyway the french make nearly as good a bad guy as the english)

Good moved by Li

One of the better Jet Li movies i have seen recently. Ranks along side romeo must die as my favourite and is miles ahead of 'The One'. The move where he kicks the billiard ball at the uzi toting villian is worth wathcing the movie alone.
