Worth a look
Kitchen Stories review

Great cinematography and marvellous 50s style. Almost worth watching for the 50s transport alone (great caravans!).
The slightly surreal storyline was a gem and the first half of the film, as the two central characters gradually became accustomed to each other, was played superbly. Ultimately though I felt that the more I found out about them the less I engaged with their lives. Their silences suggested mischievousness and a wicked sense of humour but a lot of this was lost in the dialogue which left them as two fairly dull, lonely men without aspirations or anything particularly interesting to say.
The films mastery lay in the way it gave the viewer just enough information on all its characters (including the early stages of the central two) to form detailed personalities and storylines without having to labour the point. I would personally like to have seen this approach taken to its conclusion.
Worth watching but not a classic. If you want a film on similar themes but in my opinion more successfully told I recommend L'Homme du Train.
