Considering he's best known for flag-waving epics such as Krantiveer and Kohram, director Mehul Kumar makes a tidy job of this romantic road movie, which comes across as a Bollywood blend of It Happened One Night and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Fardeen Khan and Amrita Arora star as two young Gujuratis who return to India for their respective arranged marriages after working in the United States, only to fall in love on the nightmare journey home. Glossing over the realities of life in the Indian countryside, this is escapism pure and simple, with the emphasis being on the lover's decreasingly tempestuous relationship rather than the clash between tradition and progress.
