  • The title says it all: a broadly acted mix of slapstick and kung fu, culminating in a well choreographed three-way fight in a restaurant.

    Knockabout Review

Knockabout is a action and comedy martial arts movie. If u like some of jackie chans earlier films such as snake in the eagles shadow and drunken master you will like this movie. It is about two brothers who go around swindling people and getting themselves into fights along the way. The fight scenes in this film are brilliant and so is the comedy. I recommend you rent this movie if u r a fan of martial arts or action films.

    Don't Skip it!

Two conmen, brothers persuade a martial arts master to teach them kung fu, so that they can use their new skills to become rich. After discovering their master’s secret, the master kills one of the brothers. Unable to avenge his brother’s murder, the surviving brother escapes from his master. He ends up at the house of a beggar who, reluctantly, teaches him the art of Monkey Kung Fu. Now with his new skills, his old master will be no match for him.

Watch out for some great training scenes, especially the skipping rope drill. Yuen Biao’s acrobatic skills are truly amazing and he remains one of the best martial artists ever. Sammo Hung also displays moves that for a man of his build would seem impossible, but Sammo executes them with the greatest of ease.

The comedy in this film is ok and does the job of keeping your interest between the fight scenes, however, the comedy and action are not in the same league as other movies of this genre, such as Drunken Master, Young Master and Snake in the Eagles Shadow. Nevertheless, this is a good movie and worth a watch, definitely an entertaining hour and a half
