Knockabout

Run time 100 mins Certificate 15

29th December 2011

This is an action comedy- so don't be put off by the fact that a lot of this film is very funny or a bit silly- it includes some BRILLIANT choreography & one of the best 2 on 1 fights of the time.

The only poor thing about this DVD is the naff new English (American) dub... if you are familiar with this film from back in the day then you will probably have fond memories of the great (yet cheesy) dub all these Golden Harvest & Shaw Brothers films had- for some reason CineAsia/ HongKongLeg-ends decided to replace this (& Warriors Two) with lame modern americanised dubs...They also messed with some of the aspect ratios to satisfy the 'IT MUST BE AMORPHIC' morons by loosing afew centimeters of screen space from the Widescreen prints... I tried to find some mention why among the (tedious, self inflating & marginaly informative) BeyLogan commentary; but could detect nothing before I grew impatient & re watched the brilliant fighting again instead.

Extras include interviews with Samo & Beardy (Leung kar yan), trailers (poorer recently made ones, rather than the originals).Print quality is good but not that far removed from the M.I.H.K. vhs of 15 years back.
