Science fiction is largely uncharted territory in Bollywood and director Rakesh Roshan has wisely entrusted the special effects to James Colmer, who worked on the likes of Independence Day. But while the technology is cutting edge, the narrative owes more to the Cold War allegories of the 1950s when extraterrestrials came to Earth to urge us to get along despite our differences. There are also echoes of ET and Close Encounters in the way that mentally handicapped Hrithik Roshan accidentally makes contact with a spaceship using his inventor father's equipment. It's slick, sentimental entertainment, although the songs will probably alienate sci-fi aficionados.
A pathetic imitation of "ET". It is proved once again that Indian film makers/directors can never come out of their boundaries even if they want to make a different film. The film could have been better without unnecessary fight scenes, songs and most importantly a female lead/heroine. If they wanted to make a remake of "ET" why didn't they stick to original story. I could not understand why they had to resort to turn the main character into a mentally retarded person where they can have a child as a main character. My suggestion is DO NOT WATCH this movie.
This is truly dire: even by the puerile standards of bollywood pap. A low budget version of ET in Hindi (20 years after the original!!) with some mimed songs. I had to get this for my mother and as an avid watcher of movies from arthouse to Michael Mann blowouts, I found this truly dismal:how can this be passed off as entertainment? No script to speak of, inane story lines, 'actors' schooled in the art of daytime soap acting and duff western pop songs sung in Hindi? This is what passes for culture in the land of Rabindrath Tagore and Satyajit Ray? Please stop renting/buying/watching this third rate garbage, it isn't kitch or ironic, it's simple minded trash
