Got this mainly to test out my 5.1 system, and sure enough it works a treat. Well worth a listen, watching is okay, they have never been great entertainers so don't expect a gig on par with Madonna but all things considered these are still the pioneers in techno and still way ahead of the game.
what a fantastic concert - especially if viewed with a surround sound system, the four band members stand on stage with their keyboards in front of them for the entire performance, they dont move an inch, but hey! what did you expect, its the music that matters - all the great songs are here,'The Model'- Tour De France,- Neon Lights, - Now i have hired this disc i will definately go and buy it.it is that good 9/10
Kraftwerk will not be to everyones taste. They have been around the music scene for a long time and rather than being an ABBA with every record bouncing off the top spot, they are an undercurrent in the industry which a lot of the top bands gained inspiration from.
As regards the concert, there are no band members smashing their instruments to bits on the floor or jumping into the crowd. No scantily clad ladies jumping all over the stage. They are virtualy static on stage, which is their trademark (and they do it very well). It actually enhances the performance although how is difficult to quantify.
What you have is a litany of good intelligent, catchy music which in DTS is quite ear bending. The backdrop of the stage, which is the motion substitute for the band is thought provoking & interesting.
Give it a go. I am sure you won't be disappointed. You'll find yourself humming the tunes long after you've finished watching the DVD & thinking about the backdrop images.
Fantastic live show with great video backdrops , from a band you would not normally expect such a top live performance from. Most of the hits and a few surprises.

As a record of Kraftwerk live, it's a top DVD, but, I'm afraid, it's nothing like being there. You can put up with the lack of anything happening when it's a big event in your life, but in your lounge, hmmm.
music good but they are like watching paint dry.
A rather bland rendition of somewhat uninteresting and facile techno rhythms. There were 2 mildly catchy tunes on the first disc but the rest was very uninspiring and seemed to be based on some incredibly trivial themes such as roads, computers, numbers etc. Surely alot more can be done with such technology and number of musicians. Not a patch on Jean Michel Jarre at any level! Get his Forbidden City instead.
Kraftwerk copied (and envied) by every synth band in the world, are now on display live. This show covers all their greatest hits covering a staggering 30 years. Turn your amps up to eleven and drive everyone 'postal' with the repetitive beat.
A few reviewers here seem to be meithering on about how visually uninteresting Kraftwerk are live. Hell, if you're into that kind of thing go rent a Pink Floyd or Jarre DVD. All that matters with the 'Werk is the music and here it's nothing short of stunning. All the 'main' classics are here, and if like myself you've waited 30 years for a live Kraftwerk offering I guarantee the hairs on the back of your neck will stand on end as soon as the opening track 'Man Machine' kicks in. Essential.
basically a live kraftwerk gig spread over 2 discs. after getting over the shock of how old they are now looking this is an excellant chance to see some absolute all time classics performed live on stage. some basic lighting applied to great technique gives an atmospheric stage presence and the lack of communication and expression from the band adds to the act. still magnificent almost 30 years on!
