Hop Fu!
By Ben Smith from London, England , 13 Aug 2004[Highly rated reviewer]
Based on the Battlesounds project from '94 this is Tommy Boy's take on the mixing of Hip Hop and Kung Fu. Volume One consists of two half hour long films along with a variety of adverts and a Sweedish hip hop act's video. Despite seeming initially well edited the style begins to grate incredibly quickly as does the dubbing. Dubbed films are generally quite funny as the voice is out of sync but here they take it to far with each character blathering away regardless of the one screen action. For all it's faults this is still entertaining and if you're a fan of kung fu and hip hop it's worth checking out if only to serve as a started for the better projects out there like the Kolabz Crew soundtrack to The Prodigal Son.- Was this review helpful to you?
