Kung Pow - Enter The Fist

Director Steve Oedekerk (ACE VENTURA: WHEN NATURE CALLS) wrote, produced, and stars in this this goofy spoof of martial arts movies, which he created by re-dubbing and digitally inserting himself into a 1976 Kung Fu film called TIGER AND CRANE FIST. Oedekerk plays The Chosen One (so named because of his magic tongue) who grows up in the wild after his family is murdered by the evil Master Pain--who later changes his name to Betty. Hunted and attacked continuously, The Chosen One eventually finds shelter at the Crane School, where he falls in love with a squealing maiden (Jennifer Tung) and figures out how to avenge his parents' death. He also encounters a woman with a very unusual breast, French aliens, an animated spirit father styled after THE LION KING, a martial arts-expert cow, and other digitally animated wonders. Somehow Oedekerk manages to wring a lot more funny moments out of the concept than one might think possible, and thanks to amazingly inventive editing and a gleefully juvenile sense of humor, the film never runs out of steam.

  • A parody of kung-fu movies, using an old example of the genre Tiger & Crane Fists/Hu He Shuangxing, to which Oedekerk has added new scenes and dubbed new dialogue. It's silliness is infectious.

    Mad film but very funny

Steve Oedekerk has taken an obsure 1976 kung fu picture, 'Savage Killers,' and dubbed/edited and digitally doctored to his own mad script.

Its reminisant of Dead men don't wear plaid but this has to be one of the madest films ever. If you've ever watch any old Kung Fu movies then you will appriciate where the gags are coming from. Its full of set pieces and a few extra scenes throughout such as the Matrix eque cow fight ( doing the rounds on the internet at the moment.

On the whole this works and had me and my wife rolling round in sitches throughout.

What little story there is it really irrelevant as it goes along at a pace. There is some clever digital editing dropping new material into an old film.

If your a fan of Kung Fu movies or just want a good laugh - watch this

    Kung Wow

I thought this film was bloody hilarious although it may not be to everyone's tastes as I've met people who have thought it was fairly average. If you have a truly silly sense of humour (the best kind there is) then you'll appreciate the insanity of the script, dialogue, action and funny noises on offer. If you simply are a martial arts fan then give it a go - you are also bound to enjoy the spoof. The way it has been so perfectly blended with the 70s flick is so well done it's you have to be impressed with that achievement alone.
