Renato (Ugo Tognazzi) and Zaza (Michel Serrault) return in this sequel to the 1978 hit movie. When flamboyant, cross-dressing Zaza wants to prove to his lover, Renato, that he's still sexy, he goes to a restaurant to try to pick up a man. However, Zaza's plans go awry when he's accosted by a spy on the lam, and he unwittingly becomes the owner of a valuable roll of microfilm desired by agents and many unsavory types. Zaza and Renato soon find themselves pursued, maimed, and nearly murdered, and the bewildered duo is forced to hightail it to Italy and hide out with Renato's mom--who doesn't approve of the effeminate Zaza. But the wacky duo discover that mother's house isn't a safe haven for very long.

This sequel to the original French film, not the US remake, has the same duo in the lead roles. There is a bit more to the plot this time involving trouble for Albin with both the police and some foreign spies. However I don't think the film is quite as good as the first, which was more involved with the difficulties of a gay relationship. This occurs in this film too and there are plenty of comedy set pieces to help the film along. If you can manage subtitles or french dialogue then it is an entertaining view.
