An excellent production of a less often seen Mozart opera, with strong stars and a modern staging.
Imaginative directing and a successful modern setting brought fire and passion to this so-called cold classical opera of Mozart. Tito himself was portrayed as a slightly mad and unhinged character and there one or two staged details that completely passed over my head. There is perhaps a large ocean of diatonic major tonaility in Mozart's last opera but one must bask in the seemless lyricism of the voice and the inventive orchestral accompaniment brilliantly executed on this recording.
