    Curate's egg

    The orchestral playing is great, and the singing is impressive, at least in parts, but not consistently; which is why this performance is uplifting at times, even thrilling, but not not all the time, to say the least.

    Sexy

    At last! A production of a Verdi opera that is sassy, sexy, imaginative and up-to-date. Thank goodness for the simple, stripped down stage design, sharp orchestral playing and singers who bring a skilled passion to this wonderful opera! It could have been so hackneyed but, no, here's a production that keeps the story engaging and relevant. More like this, please!
