Violent but uninteresting sequel, with unconvincing action scenes.
The second Lady Snowblood film isn't as impressive as the first, but its still very watchable. Our heroine Yuki is recruited from jail by government agents to infiltrate an organisation of political opponents in the hopes of discovering an important document (the usual macguffin). Without the chapters and flashbacks of the first film the focus shifts from Yuki onto the political games, and while its nice to have that background and context it ends up being to the film's detriment. There's also an ill-advised romantic subplot. The film is at its best when Meiko Kaji is onscreen, her portayal of the central character is what ultimately holds the film together. Fans of the copious bloodletting in the first film will not be disappointed.
Lady Snowblood 2' stands in the shadow of its prequel. The first movie outshines this movie in every way, but the second is still entertaining. Worth a look for fans of the first
