A resonable attempt!
By Geetika Kaushik from London , 06 Feb 2006[Highly rated reviewer]
Lakhon Ki Baat. It's almost exact remake of the excellent Hollywood comedy, 'The Fortune Cookie'. Sanjeev kumar makes a brave attempt at matching Wather Matthau, and Farooq Sheikh tries to emulate Jack Lemon. The biggest plus of the movie is Anita Raj's figure. She's a delicious eye candy, which the director has exploited brilliantly. I suppose the original Hollywood movie was so great there had to be a remake for the Indian audience. However Basu Chatterjee is no Billy wider. It’s a brave attempt. However whereas the original made in 1966 still looks fresh, this version made in1984 looks a bit dated. It’s a shame the DVD medium can’t improve on the washed out colours. On the whole a good entertainment.- Was this review helpful to you?
