    Warning to families

Ok I admit it, I haven't actually seen this. Therefore I can't technically give it a rating. So how can I still give a 'helpful' review? Well I'm purely going on the countless reviews I've read from disgruntled american cinema-goers. Apparently, despite the fact this has been advertised massively as a family-friendly blockbuster, even showing previews before kids movies - it turns out to be NOT for family viewing. Crude sexual humour and sexual references, drug references, some swearing including the 'f' word and a few people were even complaining that the action was too violent and scary for their kids. Doesn't exactly match the PG-13 certificate. Needless to say, this has been very unpopular in America and a lot of people are not too chuffed about it's inappropriate content, most of whom warned not to see this if you want a family blockbuster. Several reviewers said it's more suited to those who like Will Ferrell's more college-aimed comedies, so if you like that sort of thing then you may like it. But after reading so many of these surprising comments (I was actually really looking forward to this movie), I wanted to warn other people before they too wasted their money on seeing this. Don't just take my word for it either, look on the internet and you'll see for yourself (I looked at the american yahoo movies site).

    Daft & just about ok

Why Will Ferrell is looked upon as a top funny man is beyond me!!! I usually avoid his films like the plague as his past efforts have been rubbish. So why did I see this? I had some spare time and having seen the trailer thought it might be ok. Well it's just about ok, nothing special as Ferrell and friends are sucked into a parallel universe and have various adventures featuring scaly humanoids and a very daft T-Rex whilst they try to get back to normality.

    Land of the Lost

    • 24 Jul 2009

It may take a swallow to make a summer, but the season is never complete without a turkey or two. This year that would be Land of the Lost, a big screen adventure based on a tacky but unpretentious Saturday morning TV show that probably cost about six bucks to make back in the 1970s. Today, of course, Hollywood realises the true value of dinosaurs, time travel, aliens, and cheesy special effects: the producers invested $100 million to get it just so. And US box office has flatlined at less... Read more
