In a disappointing summer for blockbuster sequels, this follow-up to 2001's debut Tomb Raider movie gave new meaning to under-performance at the US box office, entering the chart at number four and tumbling down the Top Ten in subsequent weeks. In this instance, the American public have it right. Bringing in new director Jan De Bont (Speed, Twister) has done nothing to refresh the franchise, nor untangle it from panic-led editing. Angelina Jolie may look the part as video-gaming's most famous female icon, but her 2D counterpart still exhibits more warmth and personality, and for a Bond-style travelogue/action adventure, this is unconvincing, witless, pancake-flat stuff. Teamed with disgraced former agent Terry Sheridan (Reign of Fire's Gerard Butler), Ms Croft journeys from China (looking remarkably like Wales because it is) to Tanzania via Greece in search of the fabled Pandora's Box. Ciaran Hinds gives it his pantomime-all as the evil scientist, but with a plot that makes little sense and set pieces as ho-hum as two stuntmen gliding from the top of a building, one hopes that, like the box, this lame series will now be sealed forever.

    Just for fun

If you are looking for a realistic, plausible film to dissect over the dinner table with your educated friends - don't rent this film.

If however you have a couple of hours to spare and are in the mood for a mad romp around the world with Ms Jolie and her very likable love interest as they fight the baddies and each other - then this is a film for you.

None of the 'historical facts' were believable and better yet, were never intended to be believable. This is after, based on a computer game character.

It was good for a laugh.

Ain't That Great - But I Liked It!

I enjoyed this film for the simple reasons that A) there simply ain't enough ass-kicking babes on screen and B) Lara Croft is a really cool character played brilliantly by the supremely gorgeous Angelina Jolie. Who have we got apart from her? Halle Berry in Catwoman? Lord God help us all. The fact is Miss Jolie is the sexiest babe on screen and needs to be backed up with wicked films - sort it out Hollywood!

Absolute tripe. No continuity or storyline/plot. Waste of a couple of hours of my life. I thought the first one was bad but this takes the biscuit

    Errr... No

Big budget and lots of stunts but this film is paper thin, badly put together and way beyond even being a "ripping yarn". The back of my corn flake packet is more entertaining.

Angelina Jolie is the only thing worth watching.

As with the first one, the story is just a reason to beat up the bad guys. But Angelina Jolie in the Lara Croft mould is just perfection of female creation!!

Ok film basicaly you get what you expect. A bit of a cross with Indiana Jones and a female james bond. Plot a bit far fetched but continual action makes it worth watching.

    Surprisingly good!

I expected this to be the usual sequel... lacking in plot, poor acting, lower budget. But thankfully this is a high budget, well acted action packed plot gripping ( well.. almost!) film. With fantactic sets and more stunts than half the James Bond films added together ( and better!) this is definately one to get out on a bored Tuesday.

An enjoyable, tongue in cheek action movie - suitable for families to watch for all but younger viewers.

    Its all about Angelina

The story is ok, the action is ok, Angelina looks fantastic!!

I wouldn't go out and buy the film, but I did enjoy it. I like films that I can sit back, relax and not have to bother about complicated plots! I guess I just like to be entertained and in my opinion this film does that.

I also like Angelina Jolie. She has a good bod, even if the lips are a bit pumped up!!

I guess this is a bloke film, rather than a film that you may sit down and watch with your other half, unless of course she likes Angelina.

To sum up: Good film, good entertainment, but its best suited for those who like Ms Jolie.

    Worse than the first!

The original Tomb Raider film, was no classic by any means, but with the games appeal and Angelina Jolie's great turn as Lara Croft, it was obvious a sequel would be in the making.

With Speed's Jan De Bont at the helm, it looked like this could've been better than the original. The bad news is that it is worse, which is no mean feat.

The original film, while absurd was at least a little entertaining, which can't be said for this extremely dull piece of work.

There is basically very little story, just a series of extreme set pieces sewn together to make a patchwork mess of a film.

The only advantage of this film is, again, Angelina Jolie, who looks and sounds great. It is also obvious that she is having a great time making this film, which is a shame considering that after this mess, there will probably be no more Tomb Raider films.

    A pleasant surprise

After hearing so many poor reviews for this film I actually found it quite entertaining. Another action-packed Lara Croft adventure with plenty of outrageous stunts, cool technology, and humour, and enough of a storyline to keep it ticking along.

Angelina Jolie looks gorgeous, as always, and is every inch the action heroine.

    Better than the first?

Well probably. It's been a while since i watched the original though i remember not being too impressed , far too much lip pouting and stilted dialogue. This second instalment does'nt seem so bad which is possibly due to her sharing a fair slice of screen time with her love/hate interest ,a Scot who's name escapes me.Ludicrous stuff though , i mean a big boobed , good looking English madam with the combat skills of an assassin who collects never heard of artifacts against all odds... yeah right.Stick to the PC games because once you see past the chest theres not a lot else on view.
