This was a fantastic piece of escapism with a good solid story and a super ending! What really made the movie however was the sultry Angelina Jolie.

The girl just exudes pure sex appeal that is topped of with a well-to-do and horny English accent. The shower scene blew my mind.

I digress – rent it! It could only be bettered if Angelina starts wearing even less (we can only hope guys)! A really cool film.

Not actually that bad

I've heard pretty much only bad things about this outing of Lara Croft. So I rented it expecting to be thoroughly underwhelmed, and... it wasn't actually that bad. Whether it was the low expectations or something else, but I didn't find myself completely bored out of my skull or thinking 'this sucks' like I thought I might.

Action-game herione Lara Croft, millionaire heiress and Tomb-Raiding, all-action archaeologist, is brough to life in this action flick, played by Angelina Jolie, who actually pulls off a decent British accent, unlike most American actors. As a briton myself, I can consider myself an expert on the subject. The plot isn't exactly gripping, but since the focus of the film is the action rather than oscar-winning material, this isn't surprising. The planets of the solar system are going into planetary alignment which only occurs every 5,000 years, and a secret society known only as the Illuminati is seeking an ancient talisman that gives its possessor the ability to control time. To obtain these pieces an ancient clock must be used, which belongs to Miss Croft, hidden and handed down to her by her deceased father, Richard Croft (played by Jolie's real-life estranged father, Jon Voight). Lara must obtain the talisman and destroy it in order to stop it falling into the wrong-doing hands of the illuminati.

Let it be said, the plot isn't great, and if you're expecting an in-depth, thinking-man's film, then go elsewhere. This film is about guns, vehicles, action and Angelina Jolie jumping around in tight clothing. And as an action movie it succeds in entertaining. It has some very cool moments, and if you're looking to fill an bored 90 minutes of your life, I think you could do a lot worse than this.
