I absolutely adore this series. The characters are quirky, funny, sad, wholesome, stroppy, proud, strange and all mixed together become a wonderful Austenesque group. Each character has their fair share of the action and there always seems to be a lovely sense of fair play. Warm and cosy viewing!
This series lacks something in some of the new (and rather cardboard) characters introduced from Casualty, but still has all the original magical characters that make Lark Rise so watchable.
It's also a star cast of some of the best actors this country has produced, and many you don't know either. I can't stand period dramas usually; I find them overacted drivel with 'performers' that are used for ratings, and not for acting ability. Lark Rise has none of the shortcomings that I find with practically all other period dramas (and Dr Who).
I was happy to push Hollywood action films aside for a few hours and enjoyed this with my wife. It's not just for ladies, men SHOULD enjoy this if they have any interest in fun storylines and super acting from (almost) the entire cast.
This is as good as it gets, honest.
