LASSIE WATCH IT WITH THE WHOLE FAMILY!

I took my 10 year old daughter to see this film at the cinema, and her being so young obviously doesnt remember the Lassie programmes so she wasnt expecting much. But to her surprise she absolutely loved this film and we both needed our tissues on a few occasions thoughout the film. Very easy to follow with a great cast. Obviously there is a happy ending as always thank goodness! Highley recommeded!

    Kids love this!

If you can remember "Lassie Come Home" or the old reruns as I can , you will remember the emotions you had as Lassie struggled to make it home.

This film will give your kids that edge of the seat drama that you felt 30 years ago,and the feeling that they should be out there helping Lassie get home...I know I watched my daughters expressions as we viewed the movie !!

As sceptical adults it is worth watching even if it's just for the cast, WOW .

    Enjoyable yet slightly traumatic

Lassie is a remake of the classic tale about the hero dog that takes a different view on the multi-talented animal. Set in a Yorkshire mining town this version of Lassie tells an enjoyable yet slightly traumatic story of one dogs unconditional love for his young boy owner as she endeavours to negotiate hundred of miles of the country alone after being sold and moved to a remote castle location in north Scotland. Lassie has a fabulous cast and was gripping throughout but in our opinion the tear jerking scenes were too much, I would not let my children see this kind of thing that’s for sure. On several occasions you witness quite severe cruelty to animals, in one instance resulting in the death the kind dwarf traveller’s only companion, a small defenceless little dog, who is beaten to death with a baseball bat! This is a strange world where people find this entertaining and believe it is good for kids to witness this…There are many sad moments in this film, many of which make up what is an enjoyable movie but the beating of animals in a kids movie, or any movie, is not something we approve of. The happy ending does come as you might expect and the film is very watchable but be warned this crosses the line from tearful to sick on a couple of ocassions..3 stars.

    Give it a miss

This shaggy dog story is of the dreaded 'heartwarming' variety which aims to beguile children but only succeeds in insulting their intelligence.Lassie's unconvincing enemies include Rodney Trotter and Rab C Nesbitt and the film is so lame that even the dogs look embarrassed to be in it.Surely children deserve better than this.

    Heartwarming

This British take on Lassie really is an ideal family film - it's simple, at times sad but ultimately a feelgood film that both adults and children will enjoy. The standard of acting is also good with plenty of familiar names and faces throughout.

    Give it a try

wasn't sure about the film but thought I'd give it a try, don't have any children, just me & the dog sat and watched what turned out to be a great film. The film played on every emotion. The scenary was breathtaking & the acting superb. Even if you don't have children give the film a chance.

    A Good Shaggy Dog Story

This 21st Century remake of the 1940’s classic “Lassie Come Home” had all the ingredients to bake a real “Tearjerker” and therefore I got my box of tissues ready to use.

Actually the film I saw was a neat collection of cameo scenes professionally performed by some well known classical stage, film and TV actors. The two children were delightful and held their own with their fellow thespians.

Only Nicholas Lyndhurst turned me to tears with his heartless and brutal attack upon the wonderful Peter Dinklage, taking a holiday from running his Station in New Jersey. Shame on you Nicholas, you murdering scum, Lassie should have torn more than your coat when she drove you off.

Peter O’Toole nearly stole all his scenes and perhaps this tribute to an MGM classic should have been entitled “The Duke and the Dog”. Nevertheless I enjoyed this remake, partly because of the magnificent use of the scenery and partly because of the care that went into making this pleasant tale of man’s inhumanity to man and his dog.

OK for the money and the kids will like it, but not the greatest canine adventure story ever made.

    DISAPPOINTING

We were looking forward to watching this film, and at times it was quite good. However, the music throughout was annoying , some of the characters were totally miscast, and the ending appeared rushed. The scenery and animals were the best bit, mostly for which we give it the 3 stars.
