Last Days

Director Gus Van Sant
Genres Drama
Run time 97 mins Certificate 15

11th February 2012

Admittedly this IS a hard film to watch, mainly due to its very, very slow pace and bleakness.

I gave this 3 stars because it does have a couple of redeeming factors; these are the look of / way it's shot (given the subject matter) and I think the most important one being putting you (as near as can be expected) in Blake's (Cobain's) very troubled head in those 'last days'.

However, ironically that is both the films stronger and weaker factors, stonger because it does sort of put you in that mode, but weaker because of the pace / bleakness needed to achieve this.

Overall then worth a look IF you've the patience and time for this type of film; it is 'arty' and I can only imagine is filmed the way it is completely intentionally.
