Touching emotional prison drama
By AdamZ from Lancashire , 14 Jun 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
An excellently crafted and acted political tale hinging around the death sentence. Two men's paths cross inside a viscous american jail. Kiefer Sutherland's brings a great reality to his character, an inmate facing the electric chair for murder. Forrest Whittaker, the sympathetic cop strikes up an unlikely friendship with the inmate. Great film. Stays with you.- Was this review helpful to you?

(6)forest whitaker the man
By a customer from London , 24 Dec 2009forest whitaker allows his job to affect his family life. Some of us have been there before. Being a prison guard though allowing feelings to affect his performance leads to an emotional struggle for whitaker. As always, the guy plays the part superbly. Just watch it.- Was this review helpful to you?

What you see is what you get
By Claire W from Surrey, England , 06 May 2005I'm sure finding a project to cut your teeth on is no stroll in the park & Kiefer Sutherland's choice of films has always been dark to say the least, but I was quite disappointed with his directorial effort. The theme was tired & old and at no point did I feel he drew empathy out of me for either character. If you genuinely enjoy watching prison movies, this will be a perfectly watchable piece of film but I wouldn't recommend it otherwise.- Was this review helpful to you?
