Following the death of her husband, Elizabeth (Judi Dench) begins playing her tenor saxophone again, reminiscing about her time with swing band the Blonde Bombshells during Second World War. After a chance encounter with the band's only male member - cross-dressing drummer Patrick (Ian Holm) - Elizabeth becomes determined to re-form the band. Encouraged by Elizabeth's grand-daughter Joanna, she and Patrick set about tracking down their fellow musicians, but find that the intervening years have wrought a number of changes in their old friends.

Brilliant!!!

Just goes to show.....age doesnt matter!! All the actresses were brilliant. Nice to see Billie Whitelaw (Of The Krays and the original Omen films). Only problem was, we didn't see enough of her!! Not forgetting Dame Judi Dench, who, as always, was excellent, and Cleo Lane, whos singing talent is second to none, as always!!

The story is about a group of women (and one man!) whom formed a band during the second world war named the Blonde Bombshells, as the film suggests!! and how they reform to play at one of the ladies granddaughters school. Exceelent acting by all and a film well worth watching with brilliant comedy undertones!!

British film making at it's very best ! A marvellous cast telling a superb story full of nostalgia, pathos and humour.

90 minutes of real entertainment which should not be missed.

Have to admit to watching this with my Mum and my Nan and it was a hit all round. Love Judi Dench, so versatile and witty.

Brilliant film

Not only funny and a good story but you get to hear some tremendous music - would that you could hear more of it. Although this film is full of nostalgia it is not mawkish nor are the characters one-dimensional - this is the second time I've watched it and I know I'll watch it again. Get your dancing shoes on and have a good time!

This was a very entertaining film with a fantastic cast. Judi Dench and Ian Holm were fabulous as usual. Highly recommended.
