At the end of a stressful day pop into your local and enjoy the good company of old friends, a trusty pint or two and this film. You will not be blown away by computer generated action sequences; there are no Depp-type swordfights or g-string silicon-implanted beach babes. This is old fashioned acting. Furthermore it is very British-people gently make mistakes in their lives, things are left unsaid and secrets repressed. The story is a simple journey and along the way there are detours and cul-de-sacs of every kind. The heavyweights (Caine and Hoskins) are good but I particularly enjoyed David Hemmings' performance as an old boxer intent on stirring things up and causing friction. RIP. Also great to see Strood appear in a film! So raise a glass, sit back and savour.

Star studied cast, gentle meander about 3 ageing East End Brits on a journey to scatter the ashes of their fourth mate (Michael Caine). Lots of flashbacks, very touching and moving with slowly revevealed sub plots. Would not suit everyone as some would find it ponderous.

  • Acting as a craft shown to the fullest

The acting is not just epic for one of the characters in this piece but for all of them, a standard very rare. Star names give understated performances with such weight and finess.

A brilliant film about ordinary but full lives that inter weave and twist over 40 years. Fab.

A very well acted film, which is only to be expected when you check the cast. So different to other roles i've seen them all in, especially the great Ray Winstone. Fabulous to see them in my hometown of Rochester to. A wonderful story of mixed memories of a small group of lifetime friends. Emotional at times, sad but in a happy kind of way. Worth seeing to understand the true meaning of Friendship.

  • Roller-coaster of Emotions.

Jack Dodds was a stand up guy, the lynch pin of a group of friends who had been through a lifelong journey together. This story is a sentimental journey for his friends and family as they make there way to Margate, Jack's final wish to be laid to rest.

Each one of them takes us through there friendship with Jack with brilliant flashbacks, some with laughter and the good times others with tears.

This is a drama which will provoke emotions within you. Slightly making you feel like your on a roller-coaster ride.

A beautifully shot film with exceptional cast each bringing there own personality to the screen. A good British cockney film which should touch even the hardest of hearts.

Good cast, potentially a good story line, but felt at the end of it that it was no more than just okay.
