Most helpful review
great fun as always!
By James Hilton from Carlisle, UK. , 31 Mar 2005[Highly rated reviewer]
I'm in the process of working my way through the whole excellent collection of Laaurel & Hardy DVDs.
This volume is a mix of silent and 'talkies' all of which are entertaining.
The hapless duo are at thier slapstick best in the later talkies but even the silent films are full of invention and great gags!
watch and enjoy!- Was this review helpful to you?

(5)More first-class mayhem
By Savage (632 reviews) from London, England , 28 Feb 2008A bit of a mixed-bag, but the best stuff is so good you can easily overlook the fact the boys did have the occasional off-day. Let me direct your attention particularly to the trio of silents on here: the surprisingly creative 'Why girls love sailors', featuring Stan doing some lovely stuff at the beginning, and then in drag for most of the rest of the picture; the outstanding 'Sailors, beware!' which sees Stan as a cabbie who gets on a liner by mistake and unmasks a pair of hilarious tricksters; and the famous 'Two tars', the first of what would become a series of tit-for-tat movies built around a traffic jam and much auto-destruction. Not a word of spoken dialogue, but no less funny for that.- Was this review helpful to you?
