This unsurprisingly dated but still thought provoking late 1970s TV drama depicts a world of corrupt coppers, duplicitious villains and sly briefs. The plot is not really the point here - GF Newman's script is designed to make us ask questions about our legal system and what we expect from it. The acting and direction are fine and it is a rare treat to hear real London voices in a play rather than the exaggerated mockney of Guy Richie and EastEnders. If you like Ken Loach and his ilk, you will appreciate this. If The Sweeney and Life On Mars are more to your taste, best look elesewhere - this is gritty and downbeat rather than thrilling.
