A true epicBy YDL13 from Mid Glamorgan , 09 Jun 2004
[Highly rated reviewer]With a running time in excess of 3 hours it truly is an epic film, besides it won 7 Oscars and in its day that was epic!
At the risk of being branded "an old wrinkly" I can remember being taken to see this film in the "sixties" with my parents. The film absolutely bowled me over then and now in my fifties it has so much more to offer now that I can better appreciate the stupendous cinematography, acting and settings.
It has action in abundance yet still conveys the era and story faithfully. This is a must see film for both children and adults alike. A true story about one of England's greatest unsung heroes set in the lands that we commonly now refer to as "The Gulf". I cannot praise the scenes enough, although you have to see it in widescreen to truly appreciate all its glory.

A Great ClassicBy a customer , 09 Nov 2013Always loved this film and have watched it many times. Great acting and brilliant film making. Subject matter very interesting. It was lovely to watch in blu-Ray.
Absolutely fantastic filmBy a customer , 30 Aug 2013Absolutely fantastic film. Beautifully shot on a vast scale and great acting performances. It is an interesting story. It is long but this isn't a negative, if you watch at home then you can watch it in two instalments with a break. This film does not show its age. Maybe the best aspect is how it is shot with the beautiful landscapes and how all the large number of people and camels etc are used and arranged. The extras are interesting too.
The of the best films of all timeBy a customer , 01 Aug 2013Stunning photography, moving music & great acting make this film a true classic & unmissable even thought its +40 years old. The Blu-ray version is as good as modern HD movie. The lack of CG makes some of the scenes seem even more remarkable. The 3hr 38mins flew by.
All time classicBy PolarFriend (7 reviews) from North London , 18 Jul 2013Stunning - still a magnificent film - probably couldn't be made today! Performances outstanding, brilliant storytelling. True masterpiece that allows multiple viewings...
A MasterpieceBy FilmBob (1 review) , 08 May 2013Made before the advent of CGI, it takes some thought to realise that each person, camel, etc, in this sweeping epic is real, and not a virtual creation. Once that sinks in, the true scope of the film can be appreciated, not only as a film, but a reflection of the truly great life of one of the Greatest Britons. The Blu-ray doesn't disappoint, with beautiful visual detail and sound. A definite candidate as a permanent addition to any collection.
