The Marriage of Figaro is a 5 star opera by any criteria so there is always plenty to enjoy in any performance. I had one or two reservations about this production. Why were all the sets so dark? Only the 4th act is actually in the dark. The Count's hairstyle was quite ridiculous. I' ve no idea if it was a wig. I particularly liked Patricia Risley as Cherubino, one of the best I've seen. The music for the most part was well performed. I thought the part where Figaro discovers that Marcellina is his mother was very well done. The last act I thought somewhat less good and I thought the countess slightly fluffed the glorious moment of her final entry. But all in all well worth watching.
