LOVEFiLM Review
-
By Tom Charity from LOVEFiLM
Le Quattro Volte comes from the idea that the soul is reincarnated four times, as man, animal, vegetable and mineral, and it's an unusual film to say the least...

A wonderful world

Nature is beautiful and tragic, and within that we are strange and fantastic. This is more of a poem than a film, its only narrative is the passing of the seasons and life itself (which of course, goes on). It's unique, and for that reason alone, I implore you to see it, but it's also wonderful.- Was this review helpful to you?

(104)Movie equivalent of 'slow food'.......
By a customer , 18 Jun 2012This is a beautiful, moving film. Once you realize that the story will be told without the help of dialogue, you can sit back and let this wonderful, rather strange film unfold in it's slow, sometimes disconnected way. The old goatherd is heart-rending in his belief that the church floor dust will cure him. The goats are at times funny and absurd, and the poor dog seems nearly demented as he tries to control them. The changing seasons, life and death, darkness and light, are all beautifully observed. At times the camera angles seem oddly distant and static, but this contributes to one's sense of being a voyeur, observing the scene from a distance or from a high window. If you've got time to slow down and think about things, it's a film worth watching.- Was this review helpful to you?

Strangely captivating
By a customer , 08 Jun 2012Strangely captivating. This film is both simple and complex, sad but joyful. It starts out very slowly and never really gathers pace - but it doesn't need to.
Block out the cacophony which surrounds our daily life and enjoy this delightfully moving film.- Was this review helpful to you?

You have been warned...
By AndyDon (4 reviews) from St. Helens , 08 Jun 2012Astonishingly uneventful. One star for the outstanding cinemaphotography though.
I'm only adding these extra words to meet the minimum requirement of 20.- Was this review helpful to you?

What a disappointing film...very very slow..no story..pretty rural scenes but that was all. A good hour+ wasted in my humble opinion.- Was this review helpful to you?

Time out from Blue Screen Mayhem Addiction
By philfo (4 reviews) from Buckhurst Hill , 03 May 2012There is a bigger story beyond 'what is happening from scene to scene'. This takes observation and a bit of patience - both have been trained out of movie viewers brains. Given the money needed to bring a filmed narrative into life and the desire to get revenue back from consumers, it could be excused. Its the mediums big weakness. So dont expect 'anything to happen'. Watch and it does. Follow 'energy' in different forms through the scenes. Look out for the first second third and fourth time. There is a philosophical basis, I read, but its all there on the screen. Its nice & Italian too.
Its very emotive so feel the content of the moments, dont expect 'stuff' to happen. Watch out for the scene that starts with two guys dressed as Roman soldiers parking a small truck. It exemplifies the whole movie.
Most of the reviews I have read seem to have missed or failed to point out the major narrative. Perhaps we need a bit of guidance sometimes as to what its about. Kubriks 2001 was a case in hand. Key words for me would include Reincarnation - Life force - Animal wrangling magic- Ashes to Ashes Dust to Dust -
Put on a different hat and just watch. I hope you are rewarded. Its there for you.- Was this review helpful to you?
