  • An epic tale, not to be missed

An epic drama set in beautiful surroundings, the mountains of Montana. This is a tragic tale of 3 brothers who all fall for the same girl, resulting in painful conflicts. But it's much more than that. As the story unfolds you'll see the treatment of Native Americans, and the effects of the war. Excellent performances by Julia Ormond, Brad Pitt, Aidan Quinn and Anthony Hopkins. Male or female, you cannot fail to be moved by this tale.

Amazing epic story of one family - you will cry big time if you have a heart! Brotherly love, parental dilemmas, a woman dividing the family - it's all there - and told in a hear wrenching way. Highly recommended!

Well he is not the only reason why I rented this movie but OMFG he is soooo hot in here and I fell in love with him all over again. Anyway, the plot is cool, the photography is awesome and the acting is brilliant so it is worth a watch not only for Brad

  • Heaven's late...

Depending on your taste this movie could be described as either 'sweeping, majestic, epic...etc' or as 'slow, ponderous and dull'. In truth, it wasn't too bad. Some of the scenery and cinematography was impressive, but the pace was so slow it could have been half the length and lost very little.

This movie also had a flaw common to many films that attempt to cover a large span of time. Some of the characters were hardly aged at all, while some were transformed. Directors really need to pay proper attention to this aspect, as it really jars.

The story of 3 brothers who find themselves all drawn towards the same girl when their brother Samuel brings her home to meet his family before their upcoming marriage. War however is around the corner and whilst the 3 brothers go off to serve in the trenches only 2 of them come home, with Samuel being killed in action.

Suddenly the beautiful fiance is left without a future husband and the remaining 2 brothers find themselves viciously battling for her love and affection. Whilst she is in love with Tristan (Brad Pitt), the wild and untamed one it is Alfred the eldest brother who is utterly in love with her.

A complex and emotional film exploring the effect that war can have upon a family and the complex emotions that can come from being very different to your siblings. Anthony Hopkins gives an outstanding performance as the father of the boys and Brad Pitt and Aidan Quinn play the rival brothers.
